Princess K'gari's Fraser Island
covers the contact of Captain James Cook and Matthew Flinders had with the island, and also devotes a chapter to the notorious story of Captain James and Eliza Fraser and the wreck of their ship 'Stirling Castle'.  A detailed account of the Fraser Island Aborigines, their culture, and their contacts and conflicts with the European settlers, is presented over several chapters.  The book draws to a great extent on the reminiscences and records of people who have long lived in the area and an entire chapter is devoted to these first hand accounts of the European history of Fraser Island.  The timber chapter deals with the entire era and saga from 1851 to 1991 and it holds some amazing new information, early regeneration methodologies, as well as the overtures and clashes with logging protestors.  The whole is extensively illustrated with almost 300 historical photographs and cartoons that were around at the time. Wangoolba Prince amongst Dingoes, evolved utilising unique Australian down under characters and settings that combine mythology with the true story of the magic of Fraser Island.  This story seeks to preserve the indigenous place names and some proudly have been applied here for heritage and in the context of furthering learning and cross-cultural understanding. Perhaps they were elements just begging through a touch of magic to be reunited and bought together in an enjoyable mythological and understandable way. Despite dealing in parts with cultures different from our own 'Wangoolba Prince Amongst Dingoes' remains impressive. It is a flexible appealing story suitable for children and adults who are young at heart. Fraser Island is the only place where you can still find the most purebred dingoes on the Australian continent - in fact on the entire planet earth. Just how important is that? If you never choose to read anything else about our native purebred dog you must read this compelling story…
